Origin Story: Beginners Mind
“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the experts mind there are few” –Shunryn Suzuki... Zen Buddhism has a concept called Shoshin which means “beginners mind”. This refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level. Whether you are an athlete, coach, or parent please take into consideration that the more you learn the more you’ll understand how much you still don’t know. Life is about growth. Progress and development should be a daily aspiration. Adopting a beginners mind and committing to becoming a lifelong learner will open doors and thought processes you never considered.
